You've had them, I've had them and hopefully you delete them. I'm talking about those scamming letters from some African dictatorship country pleading for assistance to liberate Millions of dollars from the country. What do you get from it - a percentage (normally about 10%) of the funds. Sounds too good to be true ? Well it is - wake up and smell the coffee.

This email originally came in to my main email account - but also appeared in several others I use - obviously a mass mailing.

I opted to start using Dr Cox A. Floppin for a laugh to see if he would actually bite. If you don't get the joke it goes along the lines of ...I see that Viagra has to be referred to now as its full chemical name - Mycoxafloppin.

I have decided to contact you through this medium because in my further investigation I found out that this claim is genuine with all legal backings apart from the above data irregularities and complications which made the beneficiary to gave up the claim. Therefore, I've withdrawn my submission paper for conversion of the funds to the CBN Treasury, which several payments have suffered because of irregularities since the implementation of the ICPC -Independent Corrupt Practices Commission Act.This assurance gave me courage to link you up for this particular transaction knowing it will be of mutual benefit to both of us.

I called the Hon Mathias James to confirm that he'd got the fax. Sounds like I woke him up - what a shame. Mathias advises me that he'd send me a fax to confirm everything. I happened to be near a fax machine as I was not in my normal office so I gave him that number and got him to send it to me there. I try to get hold of Mathias after he had left me 4 voicemail messages over the weekend all of which I ignored. His phone is busy all the time or goes to the faxmachine which is useless. No problem with your photograph. I was having some further discussions with our sales department re the use of your family image and they've provided some additional information which I've forwarded here for your information - Sounds like it of major interest to our company to promote our product.

They seem to be fairly specific about what they want - hope this does not cause a problem.
Sounds like what the banner says is not important. Perhaps you could send two - one with the ORRP - Rocks ! and the other with Cox A. Floppin but from a slightly different angle - the guys in graphics can work wonders and would give them more flexibility.


I've sent a note to the advocate regarding the high fees and trying to find out if I can pay them in installments as this sort of money is not easily accessible to me a the moment. I'm going to have to remortgage my home to pay for some of it and this is going to take a few days to process. Money is tight at the moment and from not expecting any fees on this apart from the solicitors initial $1,000 its went astronomical and I will have to take plans to action the money.

I'm wondering if I can use the money that the company are to pay you for good quality images as part of the payment - obviously once I remortgage my home to free up the capital I can repay you. ? What do you think - this would allow us to complete this transaction much quicker as I can push the company rather than trying to chase my loan company.

Further to our discussion yesterday - the idea of an African family photograph is most appealing and would fit nicely with the target audience for the ORRP product. We've had a discussion internally and have decided that if we have an option on the pose something along the lines of this would be great.

With regard to payment for their troubles, the ORRP is a prime product and our advertising budget is currently rather healthy. We would be willing to pay the order of $10,000 for unlimited use of the image assuming it's of high enough quality. I'm sure they'll be able to get a good high quality scan of their photograph. Facial features are important so it needs to be high quality to ensure that they look healthy as if they've been using ORRP. If anything - re-inforce the quality issue as well as making sure that the signage is clear and neat. We've already got our English family lined up for their photo shoot tommorow and we hope to begin production of the paper brochures tommorow evening at the printers.

Thank you for your message you left on my voicemail - I'm out of the office
at the moment and would like to talk to you regarding the fees.

I'm having a bit of problem trying to obtain the amount required for the
fees and need to know is it possible that these fees can be paid in
installments ? It will take me a while to obtain the amount money required
(I'll have to remortgage my home) for part of it and wondered if the payment
of some of it can be delayed till later on as the paperwork will take a
while for the re-mortgage to to go through.

Dear Dr Floppin,

Yes I have dropped messages(3 times) with your machine.
The Notarization of your payment documents and other legalities at the Federal High Court is USD12,000.00 and the Fund claim certificate of payment is with the clearance letter is issued by the TPID with a total sum of USD10,000.00 .

Meanwhile,it will be partinent to take up the Notarization process tomoroow which follows the issue of the fund claim certificate of payment and the clearance letter which concludes the payment process.

Installment is acceptable as this process takes two sects-the court and the Bank.
I will like to undertake the notarization tomorrow as soon as I recieve
the payment information.Split the amount into two equal parts(usd6,000) each and ask them to pay in dollras not in local currency.Two different payment information will be given to you.

After this is done, you can then call the Bank and request for an extension which can be granted for 4 working during this period you can then make up the remaining balance.

Did you contact the attorney as I told you?.Yes,there is every need for you to do that so that he can instruct you on what exactly to do on the part payment.
As I previously told you,everything about this transaction is still very confidential untill the transfer is carried out and the fund confirmed in your account.Even as you send the money to the attorney,refrain from given out any information about this transaction to anybody.
Always insist that they (WESTERN UNION OFFICE) pay to the reciever in dollars to avoid fluctuational differences in the fee.
It is very wise that you undertake the legal aspect of the notarization of the certificate by tomorrow so that as soon as the remaninig balance is got,you can settle the attorney as the bank can grant you 4-5 working days to accomplish the remaninig part of fund claims certificate of payment and clearance.

I've tried to call you this morning to discuss.

YES I've contacted the attorney. I did also briefly speak with him yesterday but I was to await an email which explained everything which was supposed to be only ten minutes - well I waited an hour and a half later in the office than I normally stay for it to arrive but it didn't. It seems to have arrived this morning.

He's advised that we can do partial installments but they're still looking for $12,000 of which I have to hand about $3,000 from my savings which leaves me a shortage of $9,000 which I had planned to get from the remortgage of my home. This is why I had hoped your photograph money from the company would have helped until the mortgage people had remortgaged my home to release the money.

If this has got to happen today it's not going to as I don't have sufficient funds.

Please advise if you've been able to provide photograph as it will help both of us realise this transaction in a more realistic timescale.

Thanks for that - I've asked the sales people how quickly they'd pay up for the correct photo and they've said that they can get payment within a day. I suggest that this would be the best course of action as it would satisfy the courts payments all in one go with your money from the photo and my personal money. The rest can be paid once my house remortgage comes through.

Get the photos taken and I'll get the money transferred at the same time.

I was trying to catch up on some personal stuff and was too busy to constantly chase them up or for them to chase me.. so the next email that came in - (the one above actually) I sent them back with a system message..

I've had a long think about this - I'm concerned that you're playing some game - I've asked you a simple task to prove whom you are and you provide me with a low grade and terrible quality image thats supposed to convince me that you who you say you are. For all I know this could just be an image you found on the web. If you've got to travel to Porthacourt for your family may I suggest that you get a photograph with just yourself with my name on it. Cox A. Floppin. We will have to wait for your family photograph. I suggest that the photo is good quality and the sign clearly visible.

I've worked together with my bank and obtained approximately £5,000 which is about $8,000 I believe. Which I'll be happy to transfer to the solicitor once I've confirmed who you are. Attached find a photo graph I took this afternoon of the suitcase on my desk with the money to prove it.

You misunderstand me I do trust you - I've asked for a simple request which you have so far turned down blankly, yet you do expect me to transfer almost all the money I have to assist you.

I have done everything you have asked me or have been asked by others to do on your behalf - eg. contacting the bank, setting up an advocate and coordinating their efforts. I've started to remortgage my home to provide the additional funds required which has been formally accepted on the phone today which means that I'll have the cheque required next week at some stage. I've also emptied my bank accounts in gather the funds required. And you say I don't trust you. Can you explain that ?

I'm prepared to take the suitcase of money down to the western union office and transfer the money (I've located the local branch) or instead I can return it to the bank from whence it came. The choice is yours. Remember you sent me the low quality photo.

I take it the lack of response means that you've gone into a huff like a little boy. I've had telephone calls from both the bank and also from the advocate asking for an update. I'm happy to proceed with this if you are. Again I've tried to speak to you on the phone - no joy it's out of service or something. I'd like to speak to you to find out why you don't want to proceed ?

I ask for a simple request to satisfy my curiosity and you're unable to comply - doesn't exactly give me the warm feeling inside I had when you contacted me. I'm happy to remove my company from this transaction as I've said before but I believe that something else is holding you back.

Please advise.. or I'll call the Judge and advocate to call it off explaining the reasons behind it.

Monday morning comes and goes.. no reply from him. I have however first thing Monday morning recevied two phone calls. One from the Judge Mathias James and the other from Adewale within minutes of each other.

Do you think that this is peer pressure from them to speed things up. So I send this..

Well it looks like at this point it's dried up... no contact from Nuga. A simple photograph and he could have had all his money. A couple of days later I send him an email asking for comments on his decision and the email gets rejected... Oh dear could someone have shut down his email account.

As is normal - want some fun... phone them up- give them abuse or if you want to save your phone bill - send them some abuse mail. Just make sure it's not from your normal account. Use that hotmail account you setup just for this very purpose..
