You've had them, I've had them and hopefully you delete them. I'm talking about those scamming letters from some African dictatorship country pleading for assistance to liberate Millions of dollars from the country. What do you get from it - a percentage (normally about 10%) of the funds. Sounds too good to be true ? Well it is - wake up and smell the coffee.
This email originally came in to my main email account - but also appeared in several others I use - obviously a mass mailing.
I opted to start using Dr Cox A. Floppin for a laugh to see if he would actually bite. If you don't get the joke it goes along the lines of ...I see that Viagra has to be referred to now as its full chemical name - Mycoxafloppin.

9th April 2004 CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA OUR REF: FGN/CBN/TPID/DATA/XXVOL1.2004 Hello, REF: CLAIMING A NEGLECTED FUNDS I am the Information and Data analyst of the Treasury/Payment Investigation Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria.In the process of cross -checking payment files inherited from previous head of this department I realized a particular payment file with series of complicated abnormal entries of a beneficiary who had made efforts towards getting the funds but to no avail; I then decided to investigate the genesis of the difficulties /hitches to the release of the said funds I found out these: There is NO PAYMENT STATUS on the file and on our payment computer column as a result of mistake, I believe to have been made by the secretary who filed the particulars (DATA) i.e Bank particulars and payment reference as it was fixed in by the side column of another payment file as if the reference is not the principal benefactor of the money which effort were been made to claim it's fund. The reference name did not appear at the foreign payment list but went and appear at the Bank's domestic payment network, which is abnormal, because it's fund is a foreign payment! No fund claim certificate was issued to the reference for claim of entitled payment as constituted in our constitution for principal foreign benefactors to claim their estate benefits or contract payments without hitch. I have decided to contact you through this medium because in my further investigation I found out that this claim is genuine with all legal backings apart from the above data irregularities and complications which made the beneficiary to gave up the claim. Therefore, I've withdrawn my submission paper for conversion of the funds to the CBN Treasury, which several payments have suffered because of irregularities since the implementation of the ICPC -Independent Corrupt Practices Commission Act.This assurance gave me courage to link you up for this particular transaction knowing it will be of mutual benefit to both of us. Requirement: I want you to lay claim to this money as the principal benefactor, I will require from you your Bank account details that will accommodate this total sum of USD22Million.I willl get the above complications corrected with your personal information as will be submitted by you.On reflecting this in the payment computer system, I will advise you on the application letter you will fax to this Department for the release of the said funds.Sharing ration, 60% for me and 40% for you.I can assure you after the corrections and the application within 72 hours the fund must be in your designated account.There is no single risk at all as it's quite clear to you that the Payment Investigation Department of every Bank supersedes fund release at all level moreso I am the only person entitled to all payment data analysis and information. I will oblige you with further information and please I need your private telephone /facsimile number for easy and confidential communication. ENGR.NUGA MOHAMMED |
This one is a bit strange - why would an Engineer be working in the bank ? |

===============================================
Apologies for the shortness of my note previously today I've been tied up all day with the press as we've just launched a new drug today and it seems to have created a lot of interest in medical circles. I've attached the press release we released today announcing it if you're interested in it. As we've been saying all day - ORRP Rocks..
If there is any problems in the above letter to the bank let me know asap so I can correct before I send it.
Regards Link to Press Release |
I then send him this..
I decided to call the wonder drug ORRP as I have plans to try and get him to hold a sign later on but we'll see.. ORRP is a forum I seem strangely to spend most of my time on. |
||||
16th April My good friend, I have seen the letter,it is ok. Fax to him now and get back to me.Remeber to call me to feed me back. Thanks, Nuga |
He's a bit late in emailing me this as by the time it came in I'd probably sent it by fax. |
||||
I called the Hon Mathias James to confirm that he'd got the fax. Sounds like I woke him up - what a shame. Mathias advises me that he'd send me a fax to confirm everything. I happened to be near a fax machine as I was not in my normal office so I gave him that number and got him to send it to me there. Unfortunately for him he tried to send it to me eight times but each time the fax was almost complete I'd switch the machine off causing him to resend it. Oh dear how sad...:)
|
|||||
| Nuga, Greetings - I've faxed the information to Mathias this morning and they seem to be having problems faxing some information back to me. I've provided them with two fax numbers (one is secure) and I seem to be only getting partial pages through. On my secure fax I've managed to get 3/4 of a page through on the unsecure (open office area) I only got 1/2 a page. I've spoken to Mathias and suggested that they send it back to the secure fax as I've now left the office for the day. The secure one I can pick up whilst travelling - which I'm currently doing. It's a pity that they can't email it to me as it would be more efficient. Regards Cox Regards Dr Cox A Floppin. Senior Chemist |
Let see if Nuga just happens to know Mathias James..
At this point I know I've never provided Mathias James with my email address so If I get an email from him it means that Nuga knows him directly and is probably talking to him daily. |
||||
ATTN, MR. FLOPPIN COX,

Late that evening...low and behold to my email account from Mathias James's personal email account.
Since it's the weekend and I don't normally work the weekend I can't really respond to it till Monday. |
||||
Attn:Dr.Cox, The bank here will stop work on time today.Make every arrangement to see that you contact them today and get back to me. Thanks, Engr.Nuga |

Sun 18th April Attn:Dr.Cox, What is the condition of things?. I thought I would hear from you yesterday.Did you recieve the complete copy of the documents from Justice Mathias James? Kindly let me know on time. Thanks, Nuga |
Is he getting desperate.. ? |
||||
Mon 19th April I try to get hold of Mathias after he had left me 4 voicemail messages over the weekend all of which I ignored. His phone is busy all the time or goes to the faxmachine which is useless. I finally speak to him and we discuss that I'd like him to appoint a senior advocate to work this issue with the bank, of course there will be fees to cover this - approximately $2,000 of which $1,000 is payable up front. He promises to send me via his own personal email address the nominated advocate since we're having so much problem sending faxes. |

True to his work | ||||
| Nuga, We are moving albeit slowly. I finally made contact with Justice Mathias James - he was unable to send me the fax to either number successfully on Friday before I left the office for a nice long weekend with my family. Only when I returned this morning to the office did I find that he had managed to email me it using his personal email account. I thank him for that. I tried calling him to clarify some of the items that he had raised on the document which I can send you if you want. I tried most of the morning without success and then finally got through to him to clear things up. I've had him appoint a senior advocate to progress the claim and have just received details of the advocate whom I will contact hopefully later this afternoon. I seemingly have to pay solicitors fees up front which is rather unusual but it's only $1000 so shouldn't be a problem. I also tried reaching you today to give you the good news but your phone was engaged or unavailable. Due to my nature of being a physical person I like to see whom I'm dealing with, I enclose a picture of myself so you can see who you're dealing with. It's a pity that the sunllight is in my eyes causing me to squint. This is from the latest publicity photographs for my latest development - ORRP. |
I thought I'd take the chance to see if I can get a photo of Nuga for my collection but since I can't send a photo of myself I thought I'd pick another Doctor. If you've got no idea who he is - then do a search on google for Dr Who BBC. His name is Jon Pertwee and I believe he was the best Doctor.
Which one do you think he'll send. ?
Note the new tagline on my sig... It may convince them that it is actually a new product. |
||||
So I sent this to the "advocate" Adewale, I received your contact details to progress the transaction detailed below with the bank. Can you confirm your availability to proceed with this with the utmost speed. Thanks in advance Cox
ORRP - Rocks ! |
|||||
April 20th My good friend,Dr.Cox, Thanks you so much for the mail and the picture attached therein. I will do everything within reach to send mine to you today. As per the conclusion of our deal,I really appreciate all the efforts you have put into in order to bring it to a successful conclusion.My happinees is that the verification team,after the verification of your details in the database system approved the details in the database and recommended the remittance department to commence a direct transfer to that effect in your favor.Thus,the transfer is going to be a direct one as soon as the fund claims certificate is obtained in your favor. I will advise that you contact the attorney assigned to you to do the needful.Tell him to direct you on how the payment would be made as soon as possible.I will as well like to know the CBN accredited attorney assigned to you.Send his or her details to me today. I promise to stand behind you throughout the period of this transfer.It
is our luck and we must grab it as it is a safe,trustworthy and real cause.I
will scan and send my picture to you |
|||||
| Nuga, Thanks for the information - I did contact the attorney yesterday evening and he has replied this morning so I'm working on satisfying his requirements including the fees that seem to be getting larger. I'll keep you advised. With regard to the ORRP product - I believe I had sent you previously a copy of our press release - If I didn't, I've attached it again which I've copied from our internal company website - this is a general pharmacutical release to the chemical press. It's in a PDF format. The actual product is called ORRP after it's chemical breakdown and the catchphrase ORRP - Rocks is due to the chemical process that is utillised to create the solution. We basically take some chemicals and use a catalytic cracker to create small lumps of compound (which look like rocks) which are then added to a chemical solution to provide the ORRP final product. Nuga,
|
It's at this point that I send from Nanomoles Sales department a note that hints at what money is available to see if he'll bite. So I forwarded it to him as if it was a legitimate email. |
||||
My good friend,Dr.Cox, Thanks for your recent email to me.It is very important that you contact the attorney now and tell him the amount you have at hand so that you send same to him to enable him commence processing of the needed document. It is better for us to keep moving forward than to be stagnant thereby causing a hold-up on the transaction.If you can send some part of the money to him today,that would be great so that it will make him to commence work on time. All what you said about the ORRP rock are ok.I will strictly adher to it. Presently,this transaction speaks more volume to me than any other thing and that is why I'm devoted to completing it on time. Please do the very best you can to make the attorney commence work on the transaction. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Nuga |
They don't really care how much it is do they - as long as they get it...
I'm hanging out for the photograph though. |

Adewale, Thank you for your message you left on my voicemail - I'm out of
the office I'm having a bit of problem trying to obtain the amount required
for the I hope to be in the office tommorow from where I can call you. Thanks in advance.. Cox |
This was sent to the advocate as a delay. | ||||
22nd April
Dear Dr Floppin, After this is done, you can then call the Bank and request for an extension
which can be granted for 4 working during this period you can then make
up the remaining balance. |
And to reply is the advocate..
|

My good friend,Dr.Cox, Nuga
|
|||||
Nuga, |
Let's get into actual figures now...and alternatives for expediting the photograph from him. |
||||
Dr.Cox, I was trying to contacted you before I recieved your mail.Well noted the content of your mail.I suppose you send the usd 3000 to him now as I'm working on making the photos ready. Contact him now and send the usd 3000 to him .Do tell him that you are working very hard to raise the remainig. Nuga |
Did I really expect anything else..

||||
Nuga, |
|||||
Attn:Dr.Cox, |
What happened to my $3,000 ? its now turned into $4,000
Oh dear -he's now stealing money from his bank to pay his own fees... |
||||
It's at this point that I recevied repeated phone calls (voice mail is a wonderful thing) from Adelwale (the advocate) and also from Mathias James - the honourable. Trying to chase me up... I was trying to catch up on some personal stuff and was too busy to constantly chase them up or for them to chase me.. so the next email that came in - (the one above actually) I sent them back with a system message..
NO ACTION IS NECESSARY Sounds straight forward doesn't it ? Obviously not for Nuga who replied with... How Dr.Cox will email the below to me is still a mystry. The fool !! so I sent him the error message again. |
|||||
Nuga, I've had a long think about this - I'm concerned that you're playing some game - I've asked you a simple task to prove whom you are and you provide me with a low grade and terrible quality image thats supposed to convince me that you who you say you are. For all I know this could just be an image you found on the web. If you've got to travel to Porthacourt for your family may I suggest that you get a photograph with just yourself with my name on it. Cox A. Floppin. We will have to wait for your family photograph. I suggest that the photo is good quality and the sign clearly visible. I've worked together with my bank and obtained approximately £5,000 which is about $8,000 I believe. Which I'll be happy to transfer to the solicitor once I've confirmed who you are. Attached find a photo graph I took this afternoon of the suitcase on my desk with the money to prove it.
awaiting your reply |
Now to call his bluff
Photoshop is great isn't it. |
||||
| Well it's all gone quiet - seems like he's not to keen on sending a photograph of himself - which is a pity. | |||||
23rd April Dr.Cox, Considering the lact of trust you have for me,I will advise that you keep away from this business since you cannot trust me.Likewise I.How can I bestow my 100% trust on you? I previously thought I was having bargaining something confidential with somebody,I never knew I was only wasting my time. Anywhere,thanks alot for making me to dream all these while. Thanks again nuga |
|||||
Nuga, This is me and my daughter Sarah |
|||||
| Dr.cox, If you are interested to help me conclude this deal,then you had better forget about the company stuff. It is you I contacted for the deal and not your entire company. If in other hand you have other alterior motives behind this,then,keep all your money with you while I find a trusted person that can help. Heaven knows that I have no alterior motive about you or in this transaction whatsoever. Thanks, Nuga
|
|
||||
| Nuga, I'm quite happy to proceed without the funds from the company if thats what you want. The only problem this leaves us is the shortfall between what money I have and what the solicitors need to progress this. I've no idea what you mean by alterior motives - this pisses me off - what motives would I have - remember I'm the one here trying to help you - if you've got alterior motives I'd like to know what they are. I've tried to reach you this afternoon without success. We've obviously missed the deadline for the bank this week but I'm willing to transfer the money on Monday morning first thing assuming that I have your trust. As I mentioned previously a simple photograph is all I ask - so I can look into your eyes and know that this transaction is truthful - one simple photograph with sign and the solicitor will be paid the money - doesn't take much does it. I've left the money in my briefcase at the office in our chemical safe (I'm the only one with a key) so it's safe for the weekend. I will try and get you over the weekend on the phone. Hope to hear from you prior to Monday morning. Cox |

Monday 26th April Nuga, |
Monday morning comes and goes.. no reply from him. I have however first thing Monday morning recevied two phone calls. One from the Judge Mathias James and the other from Adewale within minutes of each other. Do you think that this is peer pressure from them to speed things up. So I send this.. |
||||
Well it looks like at this point it's dried up... no contact from Nuga. A simple photograph and he could have had all his money. A couple of days later I send him an email asking for comments on his decision and the email gets rejected... Oh dear could someone have shut down his email account. As is normal - want some fun... phone them up- give them abuse or if you want to save your phone bill - send them some abuse mail. Just make sure it's not from your normal account. Use that hotmail account you setup just for this very purpose.. Cast of thieves: Nuga - Tel In Nigeria +234-803-502-3878. His original email was this but then he changed to this. Send abuse to both just in cased he starts using them again... Judge Mathias James - can be reached on +234 90 509035 or fax +234 9 272 1859. His "personal" email can be found here. Remember this is his "personal" email so don't abuse it.. :) The solicitor Adewale Williams (not exactly a strong acting career ahead of him) - can be reached on the telephone +234 4 8880645 or his cell phone +234 803 7085098. His email account is here If there was anyone who deserved to get a virus delivered to their machines it's these guys. Not that I would approve of such a thing, oh no, not me. Have fun - and most of all be careful. |
