I've had a several comments posted on the guestbook which I thought I'd have a place to respond to them. In addition, since the guestbook overwrites itself eventually this would at least keep the information to hand

Sir,
I will really like to thank you for the effort you made in exposing some of the acts of 419 scammers. It is a step in the right direction.
Being a Nigerian myself, I found it quite shameful to identify with this negative act but while condemning it, I will like to make a few notable points.
1. Not all scam letters or scammers come from Nigeria. Other neighboring African and Western Countries are following this trend too.
Yes I know this - this is one of the reasons that the site is called AfricanScam.co.uk instead of NigerianScam or 419Scam.

2. The Nigerian government or Third world governments should be blame as the governments has failed to fight corruption in totality which they the governments officials are fully indulged in (the president included as the case of Nigeria). Nigeria is a country more blessed than any country in Europe yet few of his citizenry are involved in this shameful act. The question on any sane mind will be to ask, why will a few people from a blessed country like Nigeria be involved in this?
To me, it's greed - they see others with desirable goods and want the same - relatively easy money if you can get it.

3. The western government should also be blame more. Why? 419 scams emanated from fraud involved by known African government officials (past and present) with these western governments. Most of our stolen wealth was taken to these western countries with the full knowledge that they were stolen money but accepted open-handedly to develop their countries. If this act as been nipped in the bud and these funds refused, there won’t have been 419 scams at all. These fraudsters are using this method and believe me; people are falling because they know that it is something that really happened in the past. The only difference is that there is no real money involved now.
I'm sorry - but you're blaming the vast amounts of money that has entered your country for "development" purposes as the reason that some of your countrymen are giving your country a bad name. Sorry, but this one doesn't add up to me.

Mobutu, Abacha, Obasanjo, Guie, Babangida, Savimbi, Koroma, etc are known criminals (living or dead) who have stolen monies slashed away in Europe, Asia and America which was used to develop these continents or countries. Today, what have been done to stop future government from slashing stolen wealth abroad?
As long as western governments are encouraging and accepting stolen wealth from Third World countries, scamming will go on. Arresting or persecuting scammers is not the solution. The solution is western government owing up to the truth and desisting from going into fraudulent partnership with Third world governments. The same thing is happening today as regards terrorism. Western Government encourages terrorism and even trains terrorists for their own selfish needs and now that the table has turned, they are looking for scapegoats.
To stop scammers, educate people on been greedy and discourage or expose Western government’s deals with fraudulent governments in Third world countries.
Nope, not got me agreeing with you again. It's nothing to do with the government - it's peoples greed that's at the route of the scam. If people weren't greedy and were aware of scams such as the 419 or lottery scams then the scammers would have to find alternative income, perhaps finding a proper job just like so many of their countrymen.

To conclude these points, I will like to state that because of scams and the conclusion that it’s Nigerians that are perpetrating the act, it has become really hard to make friends and have honest business transaction. I think people and you in particular should understand that only a very few are involved in this. Nigeria is a country with loving, talented and hard working people. Some of them have established themselves in excellent professions and have made great contribution to the world development. I cannot mention names of these notable people but any sane mind will understand what I am saying. There are many more of us who are striving to make a difference in life. Please, give us a chance. Condemn the act and the people involved and not the whole country itself.
I know it's only a small amount of them thats involved, and personally I deal with Nigerians on an almost daily basis and find the ones that I work with a generally reliable people - just like any other country really. The problem is that the Nigerian government (not the other Western governments but the Nigerian one) refuses to do anything to disuade the people who are carrying out these crimes (and they are crimes) with the end result that they continue and the scam spreads to neighbouring countrys such as Ghana, and Eq Guinea.

My heart bleeds and tears roll down my eyes as I write on this. I will like to help in anyway and I welcome any reactions directly.
